Queen of Greens Bus launches new weekly stop in Huyton

by Laura Johnston

Huyton residents will soon have easier access to affordable fresh fruit and vegetables thanks to a new Queen of Greens bus stop.

The Queen of Greens bus, Merseyside’s mobile greengrocer, is expanding its route and will begin stopping at Volair, Huyton, from 11am to 11.45am every Friday, starting on 31 July.

Offering affordable fresh produce to local communities, the service welcomes everyone and accepts all payment methods, including cash, card and Healthy Start cards.

Visit the bus and pick up your weekly supply of fresh fruit and veg!

Families visiting Volair leisure centres this summer can also take advantage of free swimming for under 16s, funded by Knowsley Council. Free swimming is available during public swimming sessions from 21 July to 31 August 2026. At Volair Halewood, free swimming will be available until 10 August before the pool closes for refurbishment.

Cllr Christine Bannon, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Health, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome the Queen of Greens bus to Huyton. Access to affordable, fresh fruit and vegetables is so important for the health and wellbeing of our communities, and this new stop at Volair will make it even easier for local residents to shop locally and eat well.

“Along with initiatives such as free swimming for under 16s this summer, it’s another positive step in supporting healthier lifestyles for local families.”
