Quality award for Knowsley Council services

by Cathy Sheel

Knowsley Council’s Neighbourhood and Commercial Services have retained their accreditation with the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 quality standard.

The award recognises an ongoing commitment to improvement and delivering excellent, quality-driven customer service. Knowsley Council is now only the second Merseyside authority to achieve this standard.

The accreditation followed a rigorous two-day audit by independent ISO Inspectors who assessed the procedures, systems of work, equipment and performance of the School Meals, Building Cleaning, Street Cleaning, Fleet, Parks, Grounds Maintenance and Waste Collection services based at council depots.

The inspection covered all service delivery operations and equipment and incorporated the work of staff involved in:

  • Direct service delivery,
  • Quality assurance,
  • Performance management,
  • Purchasing,
  • Stores,
  • Transport,
  • Resident feedback

Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this coveted quality standard which ranks our performance among top private sector teams.”

“We are committed to transforming our performance to deliver outstanding customer-focused services to all our residents in Knowsley.  I would like to congratulate all those involved, particularly the operational workforce, who are ambassadors for the borough and to thank them for their hard work.”
