Protect your loved ones, get the NHS COVID-19 App

The NHS COVID-19 App is now available to download on Apple and Google App stores.

The app will support the NHS Test and Trace service and provide the fastest way to see if you’re at risk of coronavirus, helping protect you and your loved ones.

The app is designed for use on smartphones and enables you to find out when you’ve been near other app users who have tested positive for coronavirus. It also alerts you to the level of coronavirus risk in your postcode district.

App users are able to order a coronavirus test if they require one and access relevant advice.

The ‘check-in’ function of the app enables users to scan a unique QR code when they visit venues across Knowsley. This will help the NHS track the virus on a more localised level.

Venues including all hospitality, leisure and close contact services (such as hairdressers) must now provide a unique QR code to enable app users to check-in. An alternative means of recording contact details must also be made available for people who don’t have the app.

Cllr Sean Donnelly, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: “We need to stop the rising rate of infections to protect our health, our loved ones, our local economy and our way of life. The new COVID-19 App will make it easier for the NHS to track the virus. The more people who download and use it the more people we can protect from the virus.”

The app does not hold personal information such as your name, address or date of birth, and only requires the first half of your postcode to ensure local outbreaks can be managed. No personal data is shared with the government or the NHS.
