Protect your loved ones – download the NHS Track and Trace app

by Guy Murphy

Knowsley residents are being urged download and use the NHS Trace and Trace app as more restrictions are eased and outdoor hospitality opens up.

When entering a venue, users ‘check-in’ rather than log their details with the venue. Not only is this easy to do, but it also means that you can be alerted quickly should there be a risk that you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.

Combined with regular testing, the NHS Track and Trace app will allow us to easily and effectively isolate cases and outbreaks of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of the virus spreading.

Remember it is only by keeping our positive case numbers down that we will continue along the roadmap to recovery.

The app can be downloaded from both the Google Play and Apple app stores.

If you don’t have access to a mobile phone, the venue should log your contact details manually.

If someone has a positive result from a coronavirus test, they will be required to share their venue history privately via the app. The venue will then be alerted, containing outbreaks faster.

People who were at the venue on the same day as the positive case may receive an alert asking them to book a PCR test, regardless of if they are experiencing symptoms.

More information on regular testing can be found here. If you do test positive from a lateral flow test, you must isolate immediately and book a confirmatory PCR test via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.
