Kirkby had been allocated £19.5m from the former Government’s Long Term Plan for Towns programme in 2023 – now known as Pride in Place (phase one).
Phase one areas were required to establish a Neighbourhood Board in line with Government guidance in terms of membership – further information is available here – and submit their regeneration plan by the end of November 2025.
The Government allocated a further phase of Pride in Place funding in November 2025.
Page Moss and Fincham received £20m through the Pride in Place Programme (phase two).
The Government published Pride in Place phase two guidance in December 2025, and a Board is now being established in Page Moss and Fincham as per this guidance which places a greater emphasis on community involvement.
Phase two boards must be formed by 17 July 2026 and expressions of interest are being sought for an Independent Chair and Board members as part of this process.
Pride in Place phase one areas such as Kirkby are more advanced than phase two areas due to the almost two-year gap between the funding announcements, significant public consultation being carried out and a Regeneration and Investment Plan being developed and submitted to the Government by the end of November 2025.
The Government (on Sunday 22 March 2026) approved Kirkby’s Regeneration and Investment Plan which will release the first phase of funding in order for actions to now progress for the benefit of people who live, work or visit Kirkby.
