New number to report power cuts and faults

by Gemma Melling

If you experience a power cut, or have information about an electrical fault, it is now easier than ever to report the problem.

A new national phone number, which launches this week, makes reporting and getting information about power problems simple.

All customers of electricity network operators are now able to dial ‘105’ for help or information about power cuts or faults within their local area.

The number is free of charge for residents in England, Scotland and Wales, and allows you to get in touch with your local electricity network operator regardless of your electricity supplier – which is handy when you want to report something quickly and don’t have your supplier information or account number to hand.

You can use the service to get information about power cuts or to report any damage to electricity powerlines and substations if you are concerned that they may pose a risk.
