It’s hard to know what to do when you leave school and what the different options are.
As well as A Levels, BTECs, getting an apprenticeship or a job, another option is T Levels.
T Levels are a qualification after GCSE that will take your future to the next level. They are a two year programme and are designed in collaboration with employers to provide students with the skills and knowledge for skilled employment, an apprenticeship, or further technical study.
Equivalent in size to three A Levels, T Levels combine 80% classroom-based learning with a significant 20% industry placement, totalling at least 45 days, where students gain practical, on-the-job experience.
This qualification provides a clear pathway into a specific technical career by meeting the needs of industry, with courses available in a variety of sectors, including digital, healthcare, and construction.
Hundreds of employers have hosted T Level students on industry placements and many employers retain T Level students on completion of their course and support progression within their business onto an apprenticeship or into another role.
There are over 20 T Level subjects to choose from, each covering broad issues related to your chosen sector, options to specialise, and an industry placement.
Knowsley students can study T Levels at St Helens and Knowsley College (Stockbridge Village and St Helens campuses including Education and Early Years along with Health) and Riverside College, Widnes (including Animal Care and Management and from September 2026 Education and Early Years along with Health will be available).
