A children’s home in Huyton has maintained ‘Good’ Ofsted judgements following a recent inspection.
Inspectors assessed the overall experiences and progress of children and young people; how well children and young people are helps and protected; and the effectiveness of leaders and managers – all were judged to be good.
It was noted that:-
- Children are happy, well supported and making positive progress in a warm and caring home.
- Children are kept safe by staff who have built positive relationships, understand children’s needs and support them well.
- Children are able to maintain relationships with people who matter to them, which promotes their sense of identity and belonging.
- Children enjoy a range of activities, including board games and cinema trips as well as benefitting from trips including visits to the beach.
- The manager and staff have a good understanding of each child’s needs and the actions needed to support them to stay safe.
- Staff respond to children in a warm, engaging manner that supports relationships and has a positive impact on children’s behaviour.
- Children are supported to build independence at their own pace. They are encouraged to try new things and take age-appropriate risks, helping them develop skills and grow in confidence. This has supported children to travel independently, and one child has successfully moved to live independently.
- The home is managed effectively by an experienced and knowledgeable manager. The manager is supported by a committed and stable staff team.
- Feedback from external professionals is positive and highlights the warm, nurturing support that children receive from all staff.
Cllr Sean Donnelly, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said “This is a great Ofsted inspection outcome, reflecting the dedication, professionalism and commitment of the team.
“The home provides invaluable services and support to children and families and the children who live there are progressing and developing their confidence and skills.
“This latest inspection reaffirms that all children’s homes in Knowsley are judged to be Good which is a great achievement.”
