Knowsley Council is asking residents to help plan the future of Tower Hill Park in Kirkby.
The council is launching a consultation seeking residents’ views on future improvements at the park, which was created as part of the new housing development in the area.
It’s hoped the park will become the leading parkland space in the heart of Tower Hill – serving the Kirkby community, as well as a visitor destination for Knowsley and the Liverpool City Region.
The consultation will ask for people’s views about how the park could be further improved, including what they think about children’s play and youth facilities, buildings, landscaping, natural habitats, as well as events and activities at the park. The questionnaire will also ask for views about the Tower Hill Community Garden managed by Ecotherapy Garden CIC.
Residents can complete the consultation online before 1 November or they can come along to a series of daytime and evening drop-in sessions during September. The drop-in sessions are on:
Tuesday, 9 Sept, 11am – 2pm: Tower Hill Community Centre, Ebony Way, Kirkby L33 1ZQ
Saturday, 20 Sept, 1.30pm – 3.30pm: St Andrew’s Church, 6 St Andrew’s View, Kirkby L33 1ZF
Tuesday 23 Sept, 11am – 2pm: Tower Hill Community Centre, Ebony Way, Kirkby L33 1ZQ
Thursday 25 Sept, 7pm – 9pm: St. Andrew’s Church, 6 St Andrews View, Kirkby, L33 1ZF
Information from the consultation will help shape a Masterplan for the park. Details of the Masterplan will be shared during a second consultation phase later this year.
The Tower Hill and Shevington Together group are acting as the ‘Friends’ group for the park and will be closely involved in the development of the Masterplan.
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “Our recent major investment in the site has created a fabulous park for the local community – but we know there’s scope for it to offer even more.
“We’re hoping people get involved with our consultation so we can understand how the local community wants to shape their new park to benefit local quality of life and the continued regeneration of the Tower Hill area. It is vital that proposals for the park are shaped by the local residents it is there to serve.”
