Permit scheme trialled to address residents’ parking concerns in Whiston

by Gemma Melling

Concerns have been raised over a number of years regarding non-residential parking in parts of Whiston. This is mainly linked to:

  • Staff and visitors to Whiston Hospital
  • Commuters using Whiston Railway Station
  • School drop-off and pick-up at Whiston Willis Primary School and St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy

This parking has been reported to cause:

  • Obstruction and access problems
  • Safety concerns for pedestrians and other road users
  • Negative impacts on residential amenity

To address these concerns, the council have introduced an Experimental Parking Management Scheme.

For more information about these proposals please visit the Knowsley Council website.

Residents can now apply for a parking permit online at http://knowsleypermits.apcoa.com/  and follow the online instructions. You can also apply by post at the following address: Knowsley Parking Services, PO BOX 1010, Middlesex, UB8 9NT.

How can I give my feedback on the scheme?
