See Shakespeare brought to life, music from some of the best folk performers the region has to offer, and celebrations of all things laughter and silliness that’ll leave you tickled pink (don’t forget the suncream!)

JULY

13 July TAP-AOKE PROJECT Sole Rebel are bringing the noise, with a troupe of talented tap dancers alongside their band of live jazz musicians!

24 – 25 July Macbeth Multi-award-winning A Place for Us Theatre Company return with a powerful and visceral production of Macbeth

26 July – Silly Beggars Step into a world of laughter and hilarity for a new night of stand-up comedy, proudly presented by Silly Beggars!

27 July – Shakespeare – but just the deaths! The Loons have set themselves a seemingly impossible task – to perform every death scene and mentioned in all of Shakespeare’s Plays (as well as some extra gory bits)… Oh, and they only have an hour to do it in…

 

AUGUST

1 August Jennifer Reid: One Night in Prescot The working classes made music as a provocation and this is a tradition Jennifer continues. She is a performer of nineteenth century Lancashire dialect and Victorian broadside ballads.  

2 August The Merry Wives of Windsor The critically-acclaimed The Pantaloons put their own innovative and interactive spin on this classic comedy.

3 August Rumplestiltskin Join local company Altru Drama for an exciting new retelling of the classic story Rumpelstiltskin. With live music, original songs and plenty of audience participation.

6 – 7 August The Comedy of Errors Join The HandleBards for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’ like you’ve never seen before.

13 – 14 August The Town Band of Bremen The Town Band of Bremen follows the classic German tale of four farmyard animals; the donkey, the dog, the cat and the cockerel…

15  -17 August Shake-Scene Shakespeare Double Bill Classic stories, rollercoaster emotions, beautiful words and spontaneous, unpredictable performances created before your eyes! Presenting two plays showing two sides of love: As You Like It and Anthony and Cleopatra.

20 – 21 August Angelica Sprocket’s Pockets Angelica Sprocket lives next door. Her overcoat has pockets galore! And you’ll never guess what’s in them…

22 – 24 August Alas! Poor Yorick An entertaining excavation of work and political systems through the eyes of the gravediggers in Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

27 – 28 August A Midsummer’s Night Dream Four Forty Theatre are back with a British Summertime Shakespeare! Performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream in one night by only four actors in one hour!
