Once again, the Knowsley Business Awards ceremony was an outstanding success with a record number of guests.
The annual event, which grows in popularity year on year, was a sell out and hosted 860 guests in the Grand Marquee at Knowsley Safari.
Senior business professionals, dignitaries and companies from across the North West attended the event to celebrate the success of organisations and individuals in Knowsley who are making a valuable contribution to the local and regional economy.
Remarkable Knowsley Business Community
Edward Perry, Chair of the Knowsley Place Board and Managing Director of Knowsley Hall and Safari said: “Once again, this year’s awards ceremony was an amazing celebration of the remarkable business community we have here in Knowsley. Not only did we host a record number of guests but I was completely blown away by the overwhelming positive response from individuals and organisations in Knowsley. A total of 13 awards were presented on the evening to individuals and businesses who were judged by the panel of senior professionals from across the North West to have had a positive impact on Knowsley.
Bellway Homes was named Housing Developer of the Year for its Nutwood development of 3 and 4 bedroom family homes in Roby. David Williams, Managing Director said: “We are delighted to have won the Housing Developer of Year for our Nutwood Housing Development in Roby, Knowsley. This recognition represents an emphatic endorsement of our commitment to Knowsley. We have worked hard to achieve it.’’
Commercial Development of the Year was awarded to Flintrock for Venus 217, the largest speculative industrial new build in the Liverpool City Region for over a decade. The building on Knowsley Business Park provides 217, 76 sq ft of high quality manufacturing / logistics accommodation.
In a new category for this year’s awards, T & O Harrison was named Independent Business of the Year. The Prescot based farming company is managed by fourth generation farmer Olly Harrison, who has continually invested in the business to see it grow, despite the challenges faced by the farming industry.
Ollie Harrison, Partner said “I was thrilled to pick up the award for Independent Business of the Year, I really didn’t expect to win. All of the businesses shortlisted were fantastic, especially in our category. It’s also amazing what other interesting and amazing businesses there are in Knowsley. We are all delighted the farm picked up the trophy providing valued recognition for the agricultural sector.”
Special guest, Lord Edward Stanley, presented Prescot based Ashley & McDonough with the award for Small Business of the Year. The family run business has grown into a regional company delivering maintenance services for its social housing customers.
The awards evening is supported through sponsorship and is not possible without the tremendous support of the outstanding and loyal sponsors.
A grand total of £14,000 was raised on the night which will go towards the Mayor of Knowsley’s chosen charities, Lee Cooper Foundation and The Ambulance Service (Children’s Air Ambulance).
