Free online resources for parents and carers looking after children

by Laura Johnston

Knowsley Library Service has been busy sourcing a whole range of FREE online resources to help you keep your children entertained and learning while staying at home.

The comprehensive list includes resources from recognised and trusted providers like publishers Puffin and Usborne, national broadcasters CBeebies and CBBC plus literary charities that will help you to keep the children occupied and learning.

The School Library Service has pulled together a helpful list of all the children’s authors and ilustrators using social media to support children reading for pleasure at home, which includes firm favourites Roald Dahl, JK Rowling and Frank Cottrell Boyce to name but a few.

Don’t forget you can still use the library website to borrow free e-books and e-audiobooks without leaving home. New titles for readers of all ages are being added on a regular basis. If you’re not registered to use the service yet, you can create an account by emailing your details to yourlibrary@knowsley.gov.uk.

Cllr Aston, Cabinet Member for Resources, said:

“I hope you will find these free online resources really useful and they will help you to keep your children occupied and learning while we’re all at home.

“Our library staff have been busy working at home to compile the extensive lists, all specially selected to give high quality content from recognised and trusted providers, giving you peace of mind your children are safe online when accessing these resources.”
