On your bike! Take part in a community bike ride

by Alison Cornmell

UPDATE: As temperatures continue to rise, there are changes to plans for the Knowsley Sporting Legends Relay. To ensure public & participant safety, the community bike ride won’t go ahead – instead people are encouraged to join us for other events through the week. Do you like to get out on two wheels, taking a trip round the local park, traveling to work or school, or going further afield to explore new places? If you’re a cyclist – of any ability – we want you!

On Tuesday 19 July, between 5pm and 7pm, you can take part in a community bike ride at Stadt Moers Park and be part of the Knowsley Sporting Legends Relay.

From 18 – 23 July the relay will travel the length of the borough and is a celebration of Knowsley’s sporting heritage and a key event in our year as Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture.

On Day 2 of the relay (Tuesday 19 July) and picking up its journey from Day 1, the baton will travel from Halewood, taking in Holy Family Social Club in Cronton where community-based cycling scheme Pedal Away will take their turn on the Tour of Knowsley.  The baton will travel to Stadt Moers Park where the huge community bike ride will start.

Whether you ride solo, with your family or part of a group you’re invited to come anytime between 5pm and 6.45pm and cycle for as long or as little as you wish. Whatever your ability might be, if you have two wheels then why not come along?

And if cycling isn’t your thing, you are still welcome to spectate and cheer on those taking part.
