On the agenda at Council meeting, 11 July 2018

by Gemma Melling

A full meeting of Knowsley Council takes place on Wednesday, 11 July, 2018 at 6pm. Here’s what’s on the agenda:

Community Governance Review of Parish and Town Councils

Members will receive an update on the Community Governance Review of Parish and Town Councils.

Two rounds of consultation have been carried out (commencing in September 2017 and February 2018) seeking the views of local communities about their Parish and Town Councils.  In the February consultation, views were sought on a proposal to reduce the number of Parish / Town Councillors in a number of Parish and Town Council areas.

The results of this consultation will be shared with Members, who will then agree the next steps in the process.

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority orders

Members will be asked to note that the council has provided consent for two orders relating to the devolution of powers to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

The first order gives the Combined Authority the power to introduce an additional business rates supplement which can be used to fund projects supporting economic growth in the Liverpool City Region.

The second order transfers certain adult education functions to the City Region.

Each of the six local authorities in the Liverpool City Region was required to provide individual consent before the legislation was placed before Parliament for approval.

The meeting will also include a public and members question time.
