It’s official – all Knowsley’s private and voluntary full daycare nurseries are rated outstanding or good – and we are one of only four areas in the whole country to achieve this accolade!
Ofsted has recently published their official statistics about the quality of provision in all private and voluntary nurseries. In Knowsley all 44 providers have been rated either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’. This is some achievement, considering only three other areas in the country have managed the same results.
It means that parents can be even more confident that their child will get good care and their development will be supported well during the all-important early years if they attend a Knowsley nursery.
What do the assessments look for?
The inspection of nurseries carried out by Early Years Ofsted reviews the quality of provision for a child’s learning and development, the provider’s leadership and management as well as safeguarding and welfare requirements. In addition, the inspection assesses the support arrangements for children with Special Education Needs or learning disabilities and how the provider works with partner agencies to provide the appropriate support.
Parents and carers are also involved in the inspection process and encouraged to provide feedback about the childcare setting and services it provides.
Working with the council to raise standards
In Knowsley, the council’s Early Years Service works with the childcare providers to ensure the services they provide as well as their processes and procedures are efficient and lead to the provision of quality services for all children. The team provide challenge through observation, as well as quarterly meetings with the providers, ensuring all areas for development are effectively targeted.
Throughout these recent inspections, Ofsted noted that the childcare providers worked in partnership with all agencies to a very high standard, ensuring that children and families have the best support available to them through multi-agency working.
Cllr Gary See, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for all of our childcare providers and the council’s Early Years Service as well as receiving endorsement at a national level that the borough’s childcare settings offer sustainable and quality childcare provision which is accessible, inclusive and affordable to parents and carers across the borough. Well done to everyone concerned!”
