Smokers in Knowsley can get help to give up this No Smoking Day (Wednesday 11 March) with special events this week and support on offer all year round.
No matter how long you’ve smoked some of the benefits of giving up are almost immediate. You will experience improved energy and breathing within a matter of days and the appearance of your skin and teeth will be better too. Of course you also will start saving money as soon as you stop smoking.
No Smoking events in Knowsley:
Tuesday 10 March, Huyton Town centre, 10am to 2.30pm.
Wednesday 11 March, Kirkby town centre, 10am to 2.30pm.
Thursday 12 March, Tesco Prescot, 10.30am to 2.30pm.
If you can’t get along to one of these events you can contact ‘Smokefree Knowsley’ on 0800 3247111 or 0151 426 7462, text QUIT to 61825 (normal network charge), visit the website: www.readytostopsmoking.co.uk or visit your local pharmacy for support to give up smoking.
Cllr Sean Donnelly, Knowsley Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said: “Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. No Smoking Day on 11 March and the events in Knowsley throughout the week make it the perfect time to give up smoking.”
Smoke Free Knowsley is the council’s stop smoking service and is free to those who live, work or are registered with a GP surgery in Knowsley. The service runs more than 50 clinics a week across the borough, offering one-to-one support all year round.
