Knowsley Council has teamed up with Roberts Recycling to provide new textiles recycling banks across the borough.
The new textile banks have been installed at key community locations, making it easier than ever for residents to recycle unwanted clothes, shoes, and household textiles responsibly.
The first four textile banks are at:
Archway Road Car Park, Huyton Village, L36 9GD
Huyton Municipal Building, Archway Road, L36 9UX
Huyton Hey Car Park, Huyton Hey Road, L36 5SE
Mill Street Car Park, Prescot L34 6HA
There are plans to expand the network in the coming months across Kirkby, Huyton, Halewood, Prescot and Stockbridge Village. Keep an eye on our website for the new locations.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods who was one of the first residents to try out the new facilities said: “These new recycling banks are sited in convenient car park locations and offer our residents more opportunities to recycle their textiles and shoes and keep them out of landfill. The partnership with Roberts Recycling means our recycling efforts are also helping to support local charities.”

It’s fantastic to see local authorities leading by example when it comes to textile recycling, making it easier for residents to make sustainable choices close to home, making it as easy as possible for people in the community to recycle textiles.”
What can I recycle at the new recycling banks?
Residents can now drop off clean clothing, paired footwear, bed linen, towels and household textiles.
Once collected, all textiles are transported to the Roberts Recycling sorting facility in Halebank, Widnes, where they are graded for reuse and recycling. Items suitable for reuse are sent to trusted partners to be given a second life, while worn or damaged materials are repurposed into new products such as industrial rags or insulation.
This initiative supports Knowsley Council’s commitment to improving recycling rates and reducing waste going to landfill, while also helping Roberts Recycling continue its mission to extend the life of textiles.
