New Business Investment at Central House in Kirkby Town Centre

by Jonathan Kearney

A key office building in Kirkby Town Centre will once again be occupied after a new operator secured space for over 200 office staff in the newly refurbished Central House (the former Barclaycard building).

Central House is currently benefitting from a comprehensive refurbishment programme which is nearing completion.  For the last few months, the building has been advertised for letting as high quality refurbished office space.

As well as bringing an empty building back into use, hundreds of jobs are being brought into the Kirkby Town Centre area.

The building will welcome the new office staff from January 2024.

Enquiries for Central House have also been received from other companies seeking high quality office accommodation.  Any businesses interested in taking office space at Central House should contact Phil Morley (by telephone on (0151)-541 2446 or by email at phil.morley@lm6.co.uk) or Jonathan Baucher (by telephone on (0151)-662 0505 or by email at B1RE@b1realestate.co.uk).

Work is also under way on the adjacent Multi-Storey Car Park which is being transformed into a “travel hub”.  This includes a refurbishment of the car park, and installation of sensor-controlled lighting, electric charging points, CCTV and cycle and locker storage, as well as accessible bays.  The works are led by Knowsley Council and are being funded through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.  The improvement scheme is due to be complete early in 2024 and is understood to have been instrumental in encouraging this operator to invest in Kirkby Town Centre.

Councillor Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council’s Regeneration and Economic Development Cabinet Member, said: “I’m delighted to see this prominent building being used once again to accommodate office staff.

“We have been very clear that Central House is being promoted as high quality office accommodation and I hope that some enquiries we have received recently will result in even more office staff moving into the building.

“Having the building occupied will also support local businesses in Kirkby Town Centre.

“Kirkby Town Centre is a prime location for local business – it’s close to the motorway network and has excellent public transport links.  The adjacent Multi-Storey Car Park is also benefitting from a multi-million pound refurbishment, which will make our town even more attractive to businesses.

“I’m delighted to see this building being brought back into use – it’s great news for Kirkby.”

Phil Morley from LM6 added: “In a challenging market, we are delighted to have secured a new operator as the first tenant for 7,500 feet2.  This will include back office and contact centre services.

“This represents one of the largest office lettings completed in Merseyside this year and is testament to the quality of the newly refurbished offices as well as the attractive location the building provides, including the new retail facilities adjacent to the building and the immediate access to the public transport network.  We continue to attract a strong level of interest and expect to announce further lettings shortly.”
