A celebration event has been held to mark the success of the 2025/26 Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme in Knowsley after around 30,000 activity places were provided for children and young people in the borough this year.

The HAF programme, operated in Knowsley by the Council and One Knowsley and delivered by organisations across the borough, provides funded activity places for children and young people during the Easter, summer and Christmas Holidays.

Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, joined Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, representatives from the borough’s community and voluntary sector, One Knowsley and providers of activity places at the event in Court Hey Park.

The HAF programme provides funded activity places during the Easter, summer and Christmas school holidays to those eligible for a means-tested free school meal.

Activity sessions take place throughout the borough and range from sports sessions to arts and crafts, through to excursions to destinations such as Knowsley Safari Park. All sessions include a free, healthy meal.

The HAF programme will continue for at least another three years in Knowsley, with the next activity sessions being delivered during the forthcoming Easter holidays.

Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said: “With many families struggling with the cost of living, the HAF programme provides fantastic opportunities for children and young people in the borough who may otherwise miss out. I’m really pleased the HAF programme has been extended for a further three years in Knowsley and I hope it continues to go from strength to strength.”

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: “The HAF programme provides some unforgettable experiences for children and young people right across our borough. Families in Knowsley will be delighted to see it continue for at least another three years and can look forward to a new programme of activities during the forthcoming Easter holidays.”

The HAF programme will return during the forthcoming Easter holidays, with the majority of activities taking place between 30 March and 10 April 2026.

More details, including details of how to book an activity, will be available soon on the One Knowsley website.
