National charity launches FREE reading groups in Halewood

by Guy Murphy

The Reader, a national charity which aims to bring about a ‘reading revolution’, is launching a weekly reading group at Halewood Library.

Attendees can get comfy and escape the everyday as the group explores short stories and poems, both old and new. There will also be a chance to read stories out loud and socialise with others.

Shared Reading is for everybody so there will be no pressure for anyone to read out loud and everyone is welcome, from self-proclaimed bookworms to those who have never read before.

The group runs every Tuesday at 10.30am, starting 2 August. Sessions are free to attend, residents just turn up on the day.

Cllr Jayne Aston, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “I am delighted that The Reader will be bringing its Shared Reading group to Halewood. The group is a fantastic way for those with a love of books to come together and for those just discovering a love for books to find out more.

“As an avid reader myself, I know just how much entertainment can be found between the pages of a good novel. I will make sure I pop down and join in with the group in the coming weeks.”

The Reader is already bringing thousands of people together across the nation each week to share and discuss great novels, short stories and poems, and this Knowsley residents’ opportunity to join in the fun!
