Residents who are unable to work from home are being encouraged to get tested before going into the workplace or school environment.
Identifying people who have the virus, but are not displaying symptoms, is vital in order that they can then self-isolate and stop (unknowingly) spreading the virus.
This means there will be five testing sites in Knowsley located at the Volair Leisure Centres at Halewood, Huyton and Kirkby. Opening hours are 9am until 6pm Monday to Friday (but open from 8am until 9am for school based staff only) and 10am until 4pm at weekends.
The new testing sites are in Prescot and Knowsley Village.
The site in Prescot opened this week and is located in the One Stop Shop and is open as follows:
- Wednesday 9am to 5pm
- Thursday 9am to 5pm
- Friday 9am to 5pm
- Saturday 10am to 4pm.
The testing site at Knowsley Village Hall is due to open on Sunday 10 January 2021 and will be open from 10am until 4pm on Sundays, and 9am until 6pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.
No appointment is needed and remember to only visit these sites if you do not have symptoms.
Cllr Sean Donnelly, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said “It’s really important to identify people who have the virus but are not displaying symptoms. We now have five sites operating across the borough making it easier to access tests. Please remember to only visit these sites if you are not displaying symptoms.”
If you have symptoms (high temperature, new or persistent cough, loss of taste or smell), you and others in your household must stay at home. Book a test through www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or ring 119.
