Over the last few months, a number of new businesses have chosen Kirkby as their home.
Kirkby is currently undergoing a transformation with a retail development completed and all units fully occupied, the multi-storey car park in the heart of the town centre has benefitted from a £2.2m upgrade thanks to funding from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Lidl has submitted a planning application for a store in the town centre, work has commenced on 800 new homes neighbouring the town centre, as well as construction work well underway on apartments to support retirement living.
In the last few months we have seen new openings from:-
- My Dentist
- Hot Curl Pilates studio
- BodyFuel (supplements)
- Made to be Mum
- Lindsey’s Art Shed
A number of other leases have been completed in the town centre for a new restaurant at Newton Gardens and an African Food Store on St Chad’s Parade – internal works are currently being completed and they are both due to open over the coming weeks.
A further six businesses are currently in final discussions with the council to lease a number of buildings on St Chad’s Parade – further announcements will be made once these have been completed.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said “It really is an exciting time to be a business or visit Kirkby. We have been promoting Kirkby as a great business location, with investment delivered and more planned, great transport connections and a growing population and I’m delighted to welcome so many new businesses to the town centre.
“Through communications we’ve had with our residents, we know that they want greater choice in terms of shops and the offer in the town centre and we have listened and have welcomed a range of new businesses into the town over the last few months with many more to follow over the coming months too.
“Kirkby will also benefit from £19.5m from the Government’s Pride in Place programme, which will be addressing community priorities over the next 10 years.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved to date in Kirkby and look forward to seeing more businesses open their doors over the coming weeks and months.”
