Did you know that each week more than 8 million vapes are thrown away? And 1.6 billion batteries were thrown away last year. These materials being sent to landfill are harmful to the planet in more ways than one, because they also cause fires.
However, there is something we can do about it because when disposed of properly, unwanted vapes and batteries can be recycled and the material within them can be used to power electric cars.
Knowsley Council’s Recycling Engagement Team are making it even easier for you to recycle items such as vapes, batteries and even small electrical items and textiles, by bringing mobile recycling centres to a library near you.
From Monday 26 January the team will have pop up recycling centres at both Huyton Library and Kirkby Library each month.
So, keep all of your electric recyclables to one side and then head down to the library on the dates below, where the team will be happy to take your unwanted items to be recycled safely.
