Merseyside Women of the Year Awards Success

by Guy Murphy

Lesley Martin-Wright, Chief Executive of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, was presented with a special Fellowship Award at the Merseyside Women of the Year Awards (MWOTY).

This is the first time this award has been presented and it has been established to celebrate outstanding contribution to the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

Lesley was recognised for her significant contribution to women in business, enabling them to connect to professional advice and information by guiding them to adopt a growth mindset and gain competitive edge in the marketplace. She was also recognised for her work during her tenure as the High Sheriff of Merseyside 2022/23.

Ellie Kerr, MWOTY Founding Director, said: “Lesley has paved the way for many women in business and also been an outstanding and inspiring advocate for groups in every sector, who have devoted their time to improving the communities in which they live and help make Merseyside a better and safer place.

“Throughout her illustrious career Lesley has reinforced the place of women entrepreneurs and has ensured that women at all levels within the Liverpool City Region are acknowledged, valued, and included.”

Lesley commented, “This came as a complete surprise.  MWOTY has been a trailblazer and force for good for the last 20 years.  Receiving the First Fellowship Award from Ellie Kerr was a huge honour.  Over the years the MWOTY awards have recognised those incredible women who have pushed barriers, worked tirelessly for others, and made a huge difference to the lives of people and their communities.  Never seeking recognition or reward, they have all achieved great things whilst lifting up others along the way.

“I wish to thank everyone that has supported me during my journey.  Receiving the Fellowship Award will only spur me on to give more back, to encourage and to contribute so that others will flourish and succeed”.

The Merseyside Women of the Year Awards celebrate incredible women from across the Liverpool City Region who are changing lives and making an impact in arts, culture, communities, and business. You can find out more about the awards here.
