Local Residents securing Local Employment in Kirkby

by Jonathan Kearney

The new retail development in Kirkby Town Centre is expected to create around 500 jobs once completed.

The first new outlet to start its recruitment drive, KFC, has so far employed 32 Knowsley residents (out of 50 positions) at their new drive-through restaurant on the new retail development.  That’s 64% of staff being employed in the direct local area.

KFC is still currently looking to recruit five Cooks and you can apply by emailing the employment.team@knowsley.gov.uk quoting reference number APR 43 Cook.

KFC are now carrying out the internal fit-out of their restaurant with an opening due later this Summer.

In addition to the KFC drive-through restaurant, the new retail development also includes a Morrisons superstore and petrol station, a new store for Home Bargains, and a Taco Bell drive-through restaurant.

Councillor Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council’s Regeneration and Economic Development Cabinet Member, said: “The new retail development was always more than a set of physical buildings and delivering greater choice for residents and visitors.  “It was also about providing employment opportunities for our local residents, so I’m delighted to hear that our residents have been successful in getting jobs at the first new business – I’m looking forward to many more jobs to come for local people.”
