Where you can get tested if you don’t have symptoms

by Nicola Appleton

From tomorrow (Tuesday 8 December) testing facilities for people who are not displaying COVID-19 symptoms will be available at sites across Knowsley.

There will be three fixed sites at:-

  • Huyton – Volair, Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park (Longview Drive)
  • Kirkby – Volair, Kirkby Leisure Centre (Cherryfield Drive)
  • Halewood – Volair, Halewood Leisure Centre (Baileys Lane)

The centres will be open from 9am until 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. No appointment is needed.

In addition, arrangements are being finalised to offer testing facilities in other parts of the borough and further details will be shared once confirmed.

The test will identify people who need to self-isolate as they have tested positive for COVID but do not have any of the symptoms. Importantly, this will reduce the spread of the virus within our communities.

This programme is only open to residents NOT displaying symptoms of COVID-19.

A testing service for people experiencing symptoms will continue to operate at separate locations.  If you have symptoms (high temperature, new/persistent cough, loss of taste or smell), you need to book a test through www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or ring 119.

Test results should be processed in around half an hour and taking part in the mass testing pilot is completely voluntary.  All tests are self-administered, and the process only takes a few minutes.

It is important to remember that, if you do receive a negative test result, you are only negative at that moment in time.  Please continue to follow tier 2 restrictions and COVID-19 guidance.
