Knowsley Family and Community Education (FACE) opened its doors last month to a hub offer in Kirkby town centre, based at Unit 13, St Chad’s Parade.
The aim was to ensure adult learning and training opportunities, as well as support to improve residents’ skills and confidence, were even more accessible by being based on the high street.
As well as learning new skills, education and learning opportunities provided through FACE can help you to build your confidence and self-esteem as well as developing your work-based skills to help you on the career ladder or progress to your next job.
Over the last few weeks, the offer and learners has increased and it currently includes hosting a Teaching Assistant Job Fair, Diet and Nutrition, Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties, Youth Work Principles, Feel good with Flowers, Functional English Skills, Functional Maths Skills, Foundations of Wellbeing, Children and Young People’s Mental Health, Kirkby Past and Present, Introduction to Mental Health, Ways to Wellbeing through Art, Family Trees, Reiki, Mixed Therapies – with the offer being regularly reviewed and updated to meet local needs.
The first Teaching Assistant Job Fair took place earlier this week which included representatives from six agencies, along with Knowsley Works who support residents into training and employment.
The event was well attended with many residents dropping in to explore employment opportunities.
The next Teaching Assistant Job Fair will be taking place on Monday 22 June from 10am until 12.30pm – no appointment is needed, just drop in.
