Knowsley’s Economic Growth Plan 2025 – 2030 was approved at the Council meeting on Wednesday 22 October.
This follows Cabinet endorsement of the plan on 15 October.
The plan sets out a collective ambition for Knowsley’s economy, with a clear roadmap for what the council and its partners can do to achieve that ambition.
This vision is for Knowsley to have an even more thriving, inclusive economy with opportunities for both people and businesses.
It will build on the council’s previous Economic Growth Plan (2016 – 2021) which exceeded many of its targets – more than 6,000 new homes built, 11,000 additional jobs created and 4.6m sq. ft of floor space developed for businesses. The cultural offer in Knowsley has also been enhanced, culminating in the opening of Shakespeare North Playhouse and significant progress has been made in long-term plans for each of the borough’s town centres.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development said: “This new Economic Growth Plan for Knowsley builds on the successes of our previous plan and is Knowsley’s most inclusive growth plan to date.
“Approval of the Growth Plan signifies to the world that Knowsley is very much open for business and that we are extremely ambitious; have a clear vision and offer to business and that we very much remain a major economic powerhouse within the Liverpool City Region.”
