The Council’s Knowsley Works has been out and about over the last few months, visiting different parts of the borough to share what support the team can offer to help people into employment.
Knowsley Works can help residents with job searches, completing application forms, interview preparation, career options if you’re looking for a different challenge, as well as information on the Knowsley Apprenticeship programme.
In May, the team were mobile in a bus visiting Cables Retail Centre in Prescot and then moved across to Stockbridge Village (by the shops). During the day, over 50 shoppers talked to the team to find out more about their services and what support was available to them with information also being shared around the Knowsley Apprenticeship programme.
In June, the team visited Knowsley Village and Kirkby (by Tower Hill shops) and talked to over 20 people about their individual circumstances and the range of support that was available to them.
In July, the team visited shopping areas in Stockbridge Village, Dovecot, Prescot Shopping Centre and also Knowsley Village, engaging with over 80 residents with follow up meetings arranged to help people prepare for interview.
More recently, the team visited various locations in Halewood and engaged with over 20 residents about a number of job opportunities and how the team can support them to take the next step.
Whilst in the various locations, local businesses were also visited to highlight to them the support the Knowsley Works team can provide to them as a business.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said “As well as having a base in our town centres, the Knowsley Works team has been out and about in communities to help to showcase the support they can provide to residents who may be out of work, looking to move jobs or looking to retrain.
“It gave people an opportunity to just drop-in and talk about their own circumstances and receive advice on what options are available to them and how they can be supported to take that next step.”
