A service which supports people in Knowsley into employment, education or training has been given the thumbs up for the high quality of its work.
Knowsley Council’s Knowsley Works service has retained the prestigious Matrix Standard, which means that the 300+ people a week that use the service can be confident they are getting great support.
What is the Matrix Standard?
The Matrix standard is a quality framework for organisations to see how well their information, advice and guidance is helping the people they work with to successfully achieve their work, education and life goals – such as getting into their choice of career or completing training to help them progress.
What did the assessment find?
During a two day assessment, the service’s leadership and management, service delivery, resources, and continuous quality improvement were all reviewed by independent assessors.
They found that Knowsley Work’s “overall culture of professionalism and innovation to support continuous improvement is palpable”, adding that: “this is very much recognised by partner organisations, and in particular by Knowsley Works customers, who spoke highly of the ways in which they had been supported into work, addressing any barriers and achieving their goals, often beyond their expectations.”
The assessor also noted that the service supported residents into employment, whilst supporting local growth through recruitment.
In addition, the work that Knowsley Works does across the the Liverpool City Region was also praised, especially their delivery of European Social Fund and use of the DWP Ways To Work programme – a £42m funded project to help unemployed residents across the Liverpool City Region get jobs and stay in work.
Assessors also recognised the work the the service does to support those with the greatest number of challenges to overcome in order to get into work, through the Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) programme.
