Knowsley residents have been sharing their experiences of getting their COVID-19 vaccine to help encourage others who haven’t yet made an appointment to do so.
Overall, the vaccine programme in Knowsley has been hugely successful with the majority of those most at risk from COVID-19 having received their first jab.
However, there are still a number of people who have yet to get their vaccination due to a variety of reasons.
The COVID-19 vaccine is the best form of protection from the virus and is key to us returning to normality. Analysis of the vaccination programme by Public Health England has indicated that 11,700 deaths and least 33,000 hospitalisations have been prevented in those aged 60 and older in England (up to the end of April).
Knowsley residents who have their vaccine have said:
“When I arrived, everything was clean, the staff were really friendly and social distancing was adhered to at all times. I explained about my allergies and I took my EpiPen, the doctor took this on board and said I was fine to have my vaccine. She then asked me to wait slightly longer than normal to make sure that I had no reactions.”
“I was asked to sanitize my hands and I had my temperature taken. I was walked to my seat and given a leaflet telling me all about the vaccine. A pharmacist gave me my vaccine and asked me some general questions. After my turn the seats were cleaned and there was one way system in place. It was spotless.”
“Very quick, efficient and I was home within half hour. My arm was painful the next day but it soon went away, no nausea. Now waiting for my second vaccine.”
