Knowsley lights buildings purple for PoTS awareness

by Gemma Melling

Tonight (Wednesday, October 25), Knowsley will be lighting Greystone Bridge across the M62, and Archway Road Bridge in Huyton in purple to mark PoTS Awareness Day.

What is PoTS?

Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) can be a life altering and debilitating chronic health condition.

Simply standing up can be a challenge for people with PoTS as their body is unable to adjust to gravity. This is due to a dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system.

Symptoms include headaches, fatigue, palpitations, sweating, nausea, fainting and dizziness. This is associated with a persistent increase in heart rate on standing of greater than 30 beats per minute.
