Knowsley Local Elections: Live blog recap

12.45pm – Whiston Town Council result is declared

A Whiston Town Councillor has been appointed to the Whiston South Ward. David Williams of Labour wins the seat with 1000 votes. Green Party candidate Stephen Henry received 767 votes.

12.26pm – The last result from the borough elections is in

St Gabriel's result

Green party candidate Cath Golding is re-elected to the St Gabriel’s ward (a Green party hold). The results were as follows:

  • Tracy Diane Agger (Labour Party) – 935
  • Cath Golding (Green Party Councillor) – 1033

The turnout was 26.9%.

We now await the results of the poll for a Whiston Town Councillor in the Whiston South Ward.

12.19pm – The closest result so far

There are just 11 votes between the two candidates in Roby – but it is held by Labour’s Kevin Bannon. The results were as follows:

  • Kevin Bannon (Labour) – 1247
  • Paul Woodruff (Green Party – Save our Green Space) – 1236

The turnout in Roby ward was 32.5%.

There’s just one borough council ward still to declare – St Gabriel’s.

The election for a Whiston Town Councillor in the Whiston South Ward will follow.

12.14pm: Two more wards declare

There’s no change in Halewood North as Terry Powell is re-elected for Labour.

Meanwhile, in Whiston and Cronton Ward, Denise Allen wins the seat for Labour (a Labour hold).

12.07pm – Prescot South remains Green

Prescot South result

Kai Taylor holds his seat in Prescot South for the Green Party. The results were as follows:

  • Carl Robert Cross (Conservative Party) – 75
  • Dena Elizabeth Fairclough (Labour) – 841
  • Kai Anthony Taylor (Green Party Councillor) – 1315

The turnout was 29.7%.

12.04pm – The first seat changes hands

Independent candidate Steve Guy has won in Whitefield ward, taking it from Labour.

The results were as follows:

  • Steve Guy (Independent) – 1193
  • Louise Margaret Harbour (Labour & Cooperative Party) – 1027

The turnout was 28.0%.

11.58am – Page Moss declares

This vacant seat has been held by Labour’s Robert Austin. The results are as follows:

  • Robert Austin (Labour) – 1145
  • John Carine (Green Party – Save our Green Space) – 579

Turnout was 20.1%.

11.52 – Four more results announced

We have four more results, just announced.

In Shevington, Tommy Rowe is re-elected, holding the seat for Labour.

In Swanside, Colin Dever is also re-elected for Labour.

In Prescot North, Frances Wynn is re-elected, holding the seat for the Liberal Democrats.

And in Halewood South, Independent candidate Joanne Harvey is re-elected, too.

11.42am: Cherryfield is declared.

Dave Lonergan is re-elected to Cherryfield ward, holding it for Labour. The full results were:

  • Les Connor (Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition) – 244
  • David Mark Lonergan (Labour) – 1372

The turnout was 20.3%.

11.39am: Results for St Michael’s

St Michaels result

It’s another Labour hold in St Michael’s. Tony Ely is elected to the seat.

The results were as follows:

  • Tony Ely (Labour) – 1320
  • Thomas Gerard Large (Green Party – Save our Green Space) – 218
  • James Liam Madine (Liberal Democrat) – 151

The turnout was 23.7%.

11.29am: First results are in

We have our first results of the morning.

In Northwood, Harry Bell holds his seat for Labour.

The results in full were:

  • Harry Langford Bell (Labour) – 1206
  • Neil John Dunne (Trade Union and Socialist Coalition) – 309
  • Matthew David Kirwan (Green Party – Save our Green Space) – 182

The turnout was 19.1%

In Stockbridge, it’s another Labour hold, with Dennis Baum winning another term.

Results in full were:

  • Dennis John Baum (Labour) – 1150
  • James Brian Taylor (Green Party – Save our Green Space) – 295

The turnout was 17.4%.
