Knowsley Council’s Cabinet has today endorsed the Knowsley Education Strategy 2023-2026.

  • All children and young people can access great schools and colleges
  • All students have the support, guidance and opportunity they need to achieve great things
  • All stakeholders work effectively together, maximising partnership and resource through an allegiance to place

The new strategy builds on the achievements of the 2018 Education Strategy which include:-

  • 92% of Knowsley schools are currently graded as “Good” or better by OFSTED (compared to a national average of 88%)
  • Persistent absence has reduced in some secondary schools
  • The percentage of young people in education, employment and training has increased
  • Outcomes have improved at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4
  • More young people are in education, employment and training at the age of 16
  • There has also been improvements in attainment for many pupils with Special Educational Needs and / or Disabilities (SEND).

Knowsley has been identified by the Government as a Priority Education Investment Area and the Council has secured £1.8m to help to support school improvement work. The funding will support the delivery of the Knowsley Education Strategy 2023-2025.
