The Mayor of Knowsley, Cllr Eddie Connor, recently visited Knowsley Central School in Huyton to present teachers and pupils with a cheque for £8,237.50.

During his term as Mayor of Knowsley, 2023/2024, Cllr Connor selected Knowsley Central School to be supported by the Mayor of Knowsley’s Charity.

Throughout the year, the Mayor has raised money for the school and Breast Mates charity through the council’s staff Christmas Card Appeal, a stall at the Knowsley Flower Show, the Mayor’s Charity Ball, and a charity auction at the 2023 Knowsley Business Awards.

Headteacher Mr Daryl McConnell is presented the cheque by the Mayor and Mayoress of Knowsley.

Knowsley Central School is a special school that provides education for pupils aged 4 – 11 years. The pupils have complex learning difficulties including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), autism, complex speech and language (SLCN), social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), and each pupil has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Mayor of Knowsley, Cllr Eddie Connor, said:

“I was delighted to present this cheque to the children and staff at Knowsley Central School. The school provides important specialist support to many children from across Knowsley and it was wonderful to meet them and to hear how this money will help.”

Daryl McConnell, Headteacher at Knowsley Central School commented:

“It was our pleasure to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Knowsley to our school this year. The money that Cllr Connor has kindly raised will provide a wealth of support and resource for our children. All of which will make a great difference in our pupils’ young lives.”
