Kirkby Retail Development continues to make good progress

Aerial photos of the new retail development in Kirkby clearly show the good progress which continues to be made at the site.

The 45,000 feet2 Morrisons superstore is now prominent on the skyline of the town centre with external cladding being installed.  The building is due to be handed over to Morrisons in the Spring, along with the petrol filling station, and the company will then complete the internal fit-outs.

The car park for the superstore will be completed over the coming months, along with the new Home Bargains store.  This and other units – including the KFC drive through and Taco Bell restaurant – will also be handed to the operators for their fit-out in Spring.

The Morrisons superstore, petrol filling station, KFC, Taco Bell, and Home Bargains stores are all due to open in the Summer – quite an achievement considering that the work has taken place during a global pandemic.

Councillor Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council’s Regeneration and Economic Development Cabinet Member, said: “You can now clearly see the new retail development taking shape in the town centre.  Our residents have waited a long time for this, and they can look forward to the new stores opening in a matter of months.  I know that all involved have worked through extremely challenging times during the pandemic, and the progress which has been made is phenomenal in that context.  I am so proud of what the Council has achieved, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the new retail offer open.”
