A number of roads in Kirkby have recently been upgraded following the completion of resurfacing and surface dressing works.
Nearly £1 million (approximately £936,529) has been invested into the work, which saw a total of 54, 276m² roads resurfaced – the equivalent of 8 times the size of a standard UK football pitch.
The work carried out was a combination of resurfacing and surface dressing which will help to enhance the durability of the road surface, improve safety, and extend the road’s lifespan.
The following roads now have a smooth and long-lasting new surface:
Kirkby Row, Melverley Road, Hamner Road, Tallarn Road, Penley Crescent Lingtree Road, Whitefield Drive), Melrose Rd Estate, Saxon Way, Hall Lane, Copthorne Road and a number of roads off Saxon Way
This work, carried out over the summer and into September, forms part of a wider programme of road resurfacing and surface dressing works planned across a number of roads in the borough for this financial year.

“I’m delighted to see these extensive upgrades completed in Kirkby. This is part of a comprehensive programme designed to enhance the durability and safety of our roads across the borough, ensuring we are investing effectively in the long-term quality of our transport infrastructure for all residents.”
The resurfacing work on Kirkby Row was funded by the Department for Transport as part of a £1million investment. All other work was part of the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) which was approved at cabinet earlier this year.
