Knowsley Green Space Rangers are inviting budding ‘twitchers’ to join the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch from 29 to 31 January to find out more about the feathered friends living in their gardens.
The world’s largest wildlife survey asks people to spend an hour counting the number of birds seen in their garden, street or local park, then report these findings to the RSPB. Simply sign up to receive a free information pack at Big Garden Birdwatch | Join the fun – The RSPB and you are on your way to becoming part of something really special.
Knowsley’s ranger team will also be joining the fun by displaying ‘Bird Bingo’ sheets on notice boards in the parks listed below to help visitors discover and identify the variety of birds that regularly visit our parks and gardens. Anyone wanting to join in can take a photo of the sheet on their phone and identify the birds during their daily walk or exercise in the park.
‘Bird Bingo’ sheets will be available at:
Court Hey Park, Roby Road, Huyton L16 3NA
Stadt Moers Park, Pottery Lane, Whiston L35 3RG
Halewood Park, Okell Drive, Halewood L26 7WQ
Mill Dam Park, Mill Lane, Kirkby L32 2AU
Cllr Shelley Powell, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “Looking out for the different types of birds and discovering what our feathered friends are getting up to in our gardens and parks is a great way to boost your mood in January. It will also provide some really important information for the RSPB too. Good luck and please let us know how you are getting on by following us on Twitter @KnowsleyParks. Our rangers will be posting regular updates too.”
