Home Knowsley Council International Workers’ Memorial Day

International Workers’ Memorial Day

by Gemma Melling

Knowsley Council will be joining trade unions in the borough to support International Workers’ Memorial Day which takes place on Tuesday, 28 April.

The day recognises and pays tribute to the workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell by their work.

At 11am, a minutes’ silence will take place – a moment to pay tribute to the many workers during the Coronavirus pandemic who have sadly lost their lives and to thank all of those who continue to do vital work at this current challenging time.

The flags outside of Huyton Municipal Building and the Kirkby Centre will be flying at half mast whilst Greystone footbridge will be illuminated purple to help to raise awareness and pledge our support to International Workers’ Memorial Day.
