Information sessions on living with diabetes

If you’re a Knowsley or St Helens resident with diabetes and would like some support and information, come along to St Helens and District Group’s sessions coming up in 2019/20.

On Wednesday 4 September 2019, learn about driving with diabetes with Jessica Graham, Volunteer Coordinator at North West Office of Diabetes UK.

On Wednesday 2 October 2019, learn about the dos and don’ts when going on holiday with diabetes. Phil Wilkinson, a Diabetes Specialist Nurse at St Helens Hospital will be speaking at this event.

On Wednesday 6 November 2019, Catherine Gallagher, Diabetes Dietitian at St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals Trust, will be speaking about the role of the humble carbohydrate in diabetes.

On Wednesday 5 February 2020, listen to questions and answers about diabetes with Jan Cardwell and Sue Michaels, Diabetes Nurse Consultant and Diabetes Specialist Nurse at St Helens Hospital.

On Wednesday 4 March, find out how to look after your wellbeing with Dr Gill Hunt, Clinical Psychologist, at St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals Trust.

On Wednesday 1 April 2019, the topic is ‘Diabetes, the NHS and me’. Dr Stuart Bootle, a retired GP, will be the speaker.

On Wednesday 6 May 2020, there will be a short AGM followed by a talk on exercise, diabetes and blood sugar levels. This session’s speaker will be Dr Niall Furlong, Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at St Helens Hospital.

On Wednesday 3 June 2020, Professor Kevin Hardy, Endocrinologist and Medical Director at St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals Trust will be speaking about new treatments for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

All sessions will be held at St Helens United Reformed Church, King Street WA10 2JZ at 7.30pm
