The project will be the fourth for the charity in Knowsley, with successful growing initiatives already running at the Huyton Resource Centre, Craig’s Community Centre in Stockbridge Village and their flagship project at Court Hey Park in Roby.
The Incredible Edible team will be hosting a community meeting at Activate, based in the Bracknell Centre on Bracknell Avenue, Kirkby on Monday 27 January between 12pm and 1pm. The meeting is an opportunity for members of the public to come and register interest in volunteering but also share their views on what they’d like to project to deliver for the local community.
Karen Mower, Project Director for Incredible Edible Knowsley said:
“We’ve had such a fantastic response to our other growing projects across the borough and we are delighted to bring Incredible Edible to Kirkby. We’ll need volunteers to help us to set up and run the community garden, but what’s really important at this stage is to engage with the community and find out exactly what they want from us with this project. We’d encourage people from all walks of life to come and speak to us, hear a bit more about what we do and share their vision for community growing in Kirkby.”
Incredible Edible is a national growing initiative with more than 100 groups across the UK with the aim of helping people to learn how to grow their own fruit and vegetables and sharing food grown with the community in order to eradicate food poverty.
