The Council has ambitious plans for Huyton Village Centre.
The plans were shared in a recent public consultation which ran from 29 April until 27 May 2025.
Now, the Council’s development partner Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Limited (GKRL) is preparing to submit a planning application for the development of a mixed-use development comprising of new homes, commercial space (which will include the Council’s HQ), a hotel and public realm. This new development would be located on the council’s current 7 acre site.
In addition, the plans include proposals to change a unit on Cavendish Walk (the former B&M building) from retail use to a new library and community hub and also to transform the multi-storey car park into a modern and sustainable transport hub.
As part of the planning process, and before a formal planning application is submitted, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report has been developed which can be viewed on the Council’s website.
An EIA screening report, also known as a screening opinion, is a document that determines whether a proposed development project requires a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). It assesses whether the project is likely to have significant effects on the environment.
This process helps developers understand if an EIA is necessary before submitting a planning application.
