Huyton Village will get its festive celebrations underway with a lights switch-on and firework display at November’s Huyton Live.
The popular foodie event is returning for two special festive dates and the first of these, on Friday, 22 November, will also include the Christmas lights switch-on event, as well as a visit by some real reindeer, live music and a firework finale.
The fun starts at 12 noon, when food and drink will be available. Live entertainment begins from 4.30pm until 8.30pm, with the Christmas lights switched on at 6.30pm.
Light exhibition adds some extra sparkle
As an extra bonus, visitors to Huyton Village will also be able to enjoy The Garish Sun – a temporary art installation inside the former Poundworld shop on Derby Road. The exhibition will take the form of a stunning light show display exploring the theme of constellations, space and astral bodies.
It’s an experience that has to be seen to be believed and takes its inspiration from a line from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet: “turn him into stars and form a constellation in his image.”
You can view the display on Thursday, 21 November (2pm until 5pm), Friday, 22 November (10am until 9pm) and Saturday, 23 November (10am until 5pm).
Christmas around the borough
Christmas lights switch-on events are also taking place in Prescot on Saturday, 16 November, and Kirkby on Thursday, 21 November.
