Huyton Village Centre update

by Jonathan Kearney

The Council’s plans for Huyton Village Centre have taken another step forward with the acquisition of unit 1-8 Cavendish Walk and confirmation that work will commence in the coming weeks to demolish an outdated building.

Having ownership of unit 1-8 Cavendish Walk, purchased for £2.3m, will ensure future plans for these units are aligned to the overall development plans for Huyton which includes the creation of a mixed used commercial district with new commercial, residential and office space as well as a new village green and better connections between the bus and train station with the village centre.

The overall proposed development could bring up to 1,700 new jobs and a £50m per year spending boost to the local economy.

Huyton Hey is the former office block building (opposite Macdonald’s) which is now past its useful life with demolition due to begin on the 7 May 2024.

This demolition will release the land for new development that will regenerate Huyton Village, create new jobs and drive footfall into the heart of the town centre.  The demolition is due to be completed by September 2024.
