Huyton Hive progressing

by Lisa Bennett

Huyton Hive in the heart of Huyton Village Centre is progressing at pace.

The former B&M unit on Cavendish Walk is being transformed into Huyton Hive which will include Huyton Library on the ground floor and Knowsley Works (offering employment and training support to residents) and temporary office space.

The transformation is already taking shape with new windows installed, roofing repairs completed and the original space has been expanded by knocking through into the adjacent vacant unit.

You have a sneak peek at the work undertaken so far here:

In just a few weeks since work commenced, the space has already been transformed into a light and bright building and the next phase of works is due to commence later this month which will include the external cladding as part of a contemporary external makeover. Internal fit-out is expected to commence shortly afterwards.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said:

“It’s important that we prioritised Huyton Hive given how important the local library is to local residents and visitors to Huyton, whilst also ensuring it is accessible on the high street.

“It’s great to see so much progress has been made in such as short space of time and I’m looking forward to seeing the further transformation over the coming months as the external cladding is fitted and internal works commence.”

Huyton Hive is due to open in the Spring 2027 and it has been funded through the Brownfield Infrastructure Land Fund via Homes England.

The current library on Civic Way remains open as usual whilst these works are ongoing and once the work is complete, the Civic Way building will be used as office space to support the Council’s wider development plans for Huyton. You can read more here.
