How we’re working to keep you safe as lockdown eases

by Guy Murphy

With outdoor hospitality and non-essential retail set to open from 12 April, everyone at Knowsley Council has been working hard to make our town centres, shops, and bars and restaurants COVID secure.

Over the past few weeks our Town Centres Management team have reviewed and refreshed social distancing signage and floor markings where necessary to ensure that they are in place and visible for shoppers. We have also worked with local businesses to ensure that they have appropriate signage in place and conducted a review of queuing systems.

From the 12 April, Town Centre Information Officers will be helping residents ‘shop safe’ by providing face coverings and hand sanitiser to shoppers and supporting businesses re-opening as more and more people start to visit our town centres.

We will also be continuing our support for the hospitality sector, including providing marquees for those who wish to set up outdoor seating areas, allowing businesses to reopen from 12 April. These will be available at the following locations:

El Pueblo – 64 Derby Rd, Huyton

Eton Place – 71 Derby Rd, Huyton

The Coffee House – 38/40 Derby Rd, Huyton

Poco Bar and Cafe – 30 Eccleston St, Prescot

The Lord Strange – 4 Leyland Street, Prescot

If you wish to set up an outdoor seating area in a town centre in Knowsley please contact the Town Centres Management team on 0151 443 2642 or 0151 443 2298.

We’ve played our part and visitors are encouraged to continue to follow the rules that are currently in place. This includes wearing a face covering on public transport and within shops (unless you are exempt), adhering to one way systems and limitations around the number of people allowed in premises at any one time, maintaining social distancing, carrying a tissue to catch coughs and sneezes and continuing with regular hand washing.
