Household Support Fund allocations

by Guy Murphy

Knowsley Council has been awarded a further £1.862m (in addition to the initial allocation of £1.9m) from the Government’s Household Support Fund.

At least a third of the funding must be used to support residents of pensionable age, and a further third must be used to support households with children.

In Knowsley, the funding will be allocated to provide:-

  • Free School Meals and Food Vouchers for those pupils who are means tested – that’s 8,396 children for the May half-term and the Summer holidays.
  • Community based support which includes a range of support from food supplies, mental health support and financial management advice.
  • The Council is consulting with relevant stakeholders to develop proposals to support the pensionable aged population which will be announced in the near future.

Additional support is also available through the Knowsley Better Together Hardship Fund. The use of the fund will be reviewed in light of the receipt of Household Support Fund from the government with additional allocations to be announced soon. Further details about the support available to residents can be found on the Council’s website.
