Home Coronavirus: Community response Hope from our homes

Hope from our homes

by Emily Maguire

A full year has passed since the nation first went into lockdown as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic. During that time Knowsley residents have endured two further lockdowns including wide-spread school and business closures.

With Covid case numbers falling across the borough and the roadmap out of lockdown now well underway, Knowsley Council are encouraging residents to look ahead to a brighter future and share their hopes for the months ahead.

The Hope From Our Homes campaign asks residents to share the things they are most looking forward to when lockdown restrictions ease and indeed once the pandemic has passed.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Communities said; “The last 12 months have been so hard for so many. While we reflect on all that has happened it is also important that we look ahead to a hopeful future.

“With continued testing and the roll out of the vaccination programme, every day we get closer to things going back to normal. I for one can’t wait to spend time with friends and loved ones, to enjoy live events, meals out and all of those things that perhaps we all took for granted before the pandemic.

“In these coming months it would be fantastic to see a wave of hope from across the borough as we all share the things that mean most to us, the things we can’t wait to get back to.”
