Fostering is a role where you can make a difference, it’s rewarding and fulfilling – that’s feedback from a number of experienced foster carers in Knowsley who, between them, have over 72 years of fostering experience!
One foster carer, who has been a foster carer for 25 years, said “I wanted to be a foster carer to be able to look after children who had nobody to turn to. It keeps you young and in touch with young people. Fostering is very enjoyable, helping young people to succeed in what they want to do.”
Another who has been fostering for 23 years said “I wanted to give something back to my community. The best thing about fostering is simply kids! Fostering is fulfilling and you make a difference.”
And another foster carer with over 25 years of fostering experience said “I wanted to help kids. The best thing about fostering is seeing the difference you make to a child’s life. It’s rewarding.”
Every day, foster carers provide safe and loving homes for children of all ages who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to live with their own family for a period of time.
Being a foster carer is home-based, flexible and a self-employed role that utilises your skills to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.
In return, you will receive a generous allowance, training, support, access to discounts, events and much more!
Cllr David Lonergan, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said “It’s lovely to hear why some of our foster carers got into fostering. It’s such a rewarding career and we’ll be with you at every step of the way, so if you do feel like you can offer a home to a child, for a short or longer-term period, please do get in touch with us today.”
